Come, cheer up, my lads, 'tis to glory we steer,
To add something more to this wonderful year;
To honour we call you, as freemen not slaves,
For who are so free as the sons of the Skies
(Chorus sung once...)
Heart of oak are our ships, jolly tars are our men,
we always are ready; Steady, boys, steady!
We'll fight and we'll win again and again.
We ne'er see our foes but we wish them to stay,
They never see us but they wish us away;
If they run,why we follow and run them ashore,
And if they won't fight us, what cannot do more.
(Chorus sung once...)
we still make them feel and we still make them flee,
and drub them in space as we drub them at sea,
so cheer up me lads with one heart let us sing,
oh soldiers and sailors, our statesmen and king.
(Chorus sung once...)
Kalus Kal'tu walked into controlled chaos, the hanger deck of the Archon class carrier KSS Indefatigable was awash with deck hands and pilots alike loading last minute supplies and arms, he looked around as he heard someone humming a tune he recognised and saw the culprit, a Crew member leaning against a Crate marked "RF EMP M x 10000" and walked up to him.
He leaned over the Brutors shoulder and whispered “That s not how you do it,” Before the shocked man could respond he started singing, his bellow one that could start any song. “Come cheer up my lads tis to glory we steer.” He smiled as he heard the whole hanger start up in time for the next line, “To bring something more to this wonderful year.” He turned as he heard a closer more feminine voice join in.
“To honour we call you, as freemen not slaves, “ Eliza Mariska Kal'tu, Dressed in a TLF Valklear Generals uniform she looked uneasy in, walked up to her adopted father and saluted “Thought I recognised your docile tones, Sir.”
Kalus went to reply but before he could Eliza started singing the chorus, He smiled and turned back to the now full vocal hanger, the much argued topic of her being a Matari dispite her thoughts could wait, he Joined his daughter, “Heart of oak are our ships, jolly tars are our men, we always are ready; Steady, boys, steady! We'll fight and we'll win again and again.”
Eliza turned to her Father “So what brings you down here, Sir.”
Kalus smiled as the next line swept over them, “A father needs a reason to visit his Daughter? And knock off the Sir your the same Rank I was when I retired.”
Eliza shook her head “You earnt yours Sir, I'm forced to wear it, Plus a solider never retires” Eliza smirked “The fact you just started that song proves that.”
Kalus chuckled and joined in the next line as Eliza followed suit “If they run will we follow and drive them to ground, for if they wont fight us what can we do more.” As the crew, now working while singing started on the chorus he turned back to his daughter, “Well a soldier needs songs, helps keep them sane, speaking of witch any news?”
Eliza frowned and waved to her office as her father shut the door behind him, not quite shutting the sound out she sat on the desk and turned to him. “Doc says I'm better, but wont clear me to fly until I've spilled the whole lot to someone,” Eliza shook her head as Kalus went to speak “No offence si....” At Kalus frown she quickly corrected “Dad, but I wouldn’t want to burden you with these, No I think Ethan Verones the man for the job, and I should get a chance to talk to him this weekend.
Kalus nodded and moving behind Eizas desk withdrew a bottle of Kimotoro Gold and poured ample helpings into two glasses, “From what I hear hes a good geezer, well good in a funny kinda sense.”
Eliza chucked accepting her glass “Yeh hes a stand up fella,” She looked into the hanger “Looks like they've started Men of Auga.”
Kalus chuckled “Yep I'm afraid I may of started a trend, how long til you cast off?”
Eliza smiled “its good for morale so don’t worry, and we're leave as soon as I can fly again, I've already entered the clan into the TLF.”
Kalus nodded “I'll sort the party then” HE chuckled at Elizas face, and stood up to open the door “Hey your the first ship in the Kal'tus capsuleer space forces, witch means I get to start traditions.”
Eliza nodded “Thanks for the trust by the way, not sure I deserve it.”
Kalus waved her off, “Your do me and the family proud kid,” He opened the door and walked towards the lift singing on the way. “Summon all at Baha's call, the mighty force surrounding.”
Eliza pushed the door closed and sat at the desk her head in her hands, for the last few months since she had given birth to her twins Siea and Liea, shed remember the full brunt of her past, she hoped Ethan could help, after all he did have another old kameira, the only other one now a capsuleer she knew about, in his employ.
She downed her drink and wiping the worry off her face, re entered the hanger in time for the last few lines. “Men of Auga on to glory This will ever be your story Keep these burning words before ye Matari will not yield”
